To ensure full submission, authors are expected to use the online journal submission tool and include both the original manuscript file and a short biography as a supplementary file.

Editing and Review Cycle

Each submitted manuscript will be reviewed by the Editor and, if it is suitable for the journal, it is then sent to two, or more, anonymous referees for double blind peer review. Based on their recommendations, the editor will notify the corresponding author whether the paper should be accepted as is, revised or rejected.

In case of revision, the corresponding author has to revisit the manuscript for modifications and resubmit within 10 days. The corresponding author must ensure that the resubmitted manuscript is complete, grammatically correct and without spelling or typographical errors. The publisher will do everything possible to ensure prompt publication. It will therefore be appreciated if the manuscripts and figures conform from the outset to the style of the journal.

Refer to our page on Article Review Cycle for more details.

Ensuring a Blind Peer Review

To ensure the integrity of the blind peer-review for submission to this journal, every effort should be made to prevent the identities of the authors and reviewers from being known to each other. This involves the authors, editors, and reviewers (who upload documents as part of their review) checking to see if the following steps have been taken with regard to the text and the file properties:

The authors of the document have deleted their names from the text, with “Author” and year used in the references and footnotes, instead of the authors’ name, article title, etc.

With Microsoft Office documents, author identification should also be removed from the properties for the file (see under File in Word), by clicking on the following, beginning with File on the main menu of the Microsoft application: File > Save As > Tools (or Options with a Mac) > Security > Remove personal information from file properties on save > Save.

Permissions

Papers must be submitted on the understanding that they have not been published elsewhere (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture, review, or thesis) and are not currently under consideration by another journal. The submitting author is responsible for ensuring that the article’s publication has been approved by all the other co-authors. It is also the authors’ responsibility to obtain the necessary written permission in advance from any third party owners of copyright for the use in print and electronic formats of any of their text, illustrations, graphics, or other material, in their manuscript. Permission must also be cleared for any minor adaptations of any work not created by them.

Formatting

Please prepare your manuscript before submission, using the following guidelines:

All files should be submitted as a Word document

Length of the paper is unlimited

First page of the manuscript should contain:

Article title that is concise and informative

Author(s) details include full name, affiliation and e-mail address of each author.

Acknowledgements (if any)

Abstract should not exceed 250 words and may cover the purpose, method and findings of the paper.

Keywords of the principal topics of the paper should not exceed 6 keywords

– Paper subdivision (numbered sections)

Divide your article into clearly defined and numbered sections. Subsections should be numbered 1.1 (then 1.1.1, 1.1.2, …), 1.2, etc. (the abstract is not included in section numbering). Use this numbering also for internal cross-referencing: do not just refer to ‘the text’. Any subsection may be given a brief heading. Each heading should appear on its own separate line. Major sections may involve, but not limited to:

Introduction

Background / Review

Methodology / Method

Results

Discussion

Conclusions

references

Appendices

Tables and figures

Authors are expected to include all tables and figures in the word file of the manuscript. Figures and tables should not be submitted in separate files. If the article is accepted, authors may be asked to provide the source files of the figures. Each figure should be supplied in a separate electronic file. All figures and tables should be numbered in a consecutive order in accordance with their appearance in the text.

If requested, figures should be supplied in either vector art formats (Illustrator, EPS, WMF, FreeHand, CorelDraw, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) or bitmap formats (Photoshop, TIFF, GIF, JPEG, etc.). Bitmap images should be of 300 dpi resolution at least unless the resolution is intentionally set to a lower level for scientific reasons. If a bitmap image has labels, the image and labels should be embedded in separate layers.

Citation

References to other publications must follow one of the major academic writing styles (APA, MLA, Turabian, AMA, CSE, ACS, or Harvard). All references should be carefully checked for completeness, accuracy and consistency.

The following examples are in Harvard style:

In-text citation: (Watson, 2010) using the first named author’s name or (Watson and Steven, 2010) citing both names of two, or (Watson et al., 2010), when there are three or more authors.

References: At the end of the paper a reference list in alphabetical order should be supplied:

Books: Surname, Initials (year), Title of Book, Publisher, Place of publication.

Book chapters: Surname, Initials (year), “Chapter title”, Editor’s Surname, Initials, Title of Book, Publisher, Place of publication, pages.

Journals: Surname, Initials (year), “Title of article”, Journal Name, volume, number, pages.

Published conference proceedings: Surname, Initials (year of publication), “Title of paper”, in Surname, Initials (Ed.), Title of published proceeding which may include place and date(s) held, Publisher, Place of publication, Page numbers.

Unpublished conference proceedings: Surname, Initials (year), “Title of paper”, paper presented at Name of Conference, date of conference, place of conference, available at: URL if freely available on the internet (accessed date).

Working papers: Surname, Initials (year), “Title of article”, working paper [number if available], Institution or organization, Place of organization, date.

Encyclopedia entries: Title of Encyclopedia (year) “Title of entry”, volume, edition, Title of Encyclopedia, Publisher, Place of publication, pages.

Newspaper articles (authored): Surname, Initials (year), “Article title”, Newspaper, date, pages.

Newspaper articles (non-authored): Newspaper (year), “Article title”, date, pages.

Electronic sources: If available online, the full URL should be supplied at the end of the reference, as well as a date that the resource was accessed.

Open access

This is an Open Access journal where authors retain the copyrights of their papers.
